Mode- and wavelength-division multiplexed transmission using all-fiber mode multiplexer based on mode selective couplers.
We propose all-fiber mode multiplexer composed of two consecutive LP₁₁ mode selective couplers that allows for the multiplexing of LP₀₁ mode and two-fold degenerate LP₁₁ modes. We demonstrate WDM transmission of 32 wavelength channels with 100 GHz spacing, each carrying 3 modes of 120 Gb/s polarization division multiplexed quadrature phase shifted keying (PDM-QPSK) signal, over 560 km of few-mo...
متن کاملMode-selective wavelength conversion of OFDM-QPSK signals in a multimode silicon waveguide.
We experimentally demonstrate on-chip mode-selective wavelength conversions based on the degenerate four-wave mixing (FWM) nonlinear effect in a few-mode silicon waveguide. A multimode waveguide with tapered directional coupler based mode (de)multiplexers is designed and fabricated. Using signals with advanced modulation formats all-optical wavelength conversions of 102.6-Gb/s OFDM-QPSK signals...
متن کاملMode-selective wavelength conversion based on four-wave mixing in a multimode silicon waveguide.
We propose and demonstrate all-optical mode-selective wavelength conversion in a silicon waveguide. The mode-selective wavelength conversion relies on strong four-wave mixing when pump and signal light are on the same spatial mode, while weak four-wave mixing is obtained between different modes due to phase mismatch. A two-mode division multiplexing circuit with tapered directional coupler base...
متن کاملFiber Parametric Amplifiers for Wavelength Band Conversion
By using a loop configuration formed by a polarization beam splitter, we experimentally demonstrate that the existing wavelength-division multiplexing (WDM) sources in -band can be wavelength converted to the -band with low polarization sensitivity and low crosstalk. Using a fiber parametric amplifier as a band converter, we achieve experimentally 0.65-dB polarization sensitivity and 4.7-dB con...
متن کاملWavelength conversion in a highly nonlinear chalcogenide microstructured fiber.
We report on all-optical wavelength conversion of a 56 Gb/s differential quadrature phase shift keying signal and a 42.7 Gb/s on-off keying signal. Wavelength conversion is based on four-wave mixing effect in a 1 m long highly nonlinear GeAsSe chalcogenide fiber. The high nonlinearity of the fiber allows low-power penalty operation with a total average power of less than 60 mW.
